Spain in drive to get women into special forces | BBC

Defense Minister Margarita Robles has asked women to join the ranks of special forces troops to help battle unconventional warfare and resolve conflict. Those that can speak Arabic are being sought after for by the UN and NATO for missions in conflict areas. More roles have been open to women, and Robles believes they can gather intelligence in ways men struggle to, such as being able to talk to local women that would normally be kept away from the male soldiers. Women now make up 12.7% of Spain’s special forces and they are looking to recruit more.
