SIPRI: Weapons boom shows no signs of slowing | DW

The top 100 military contractors and companies saw a 4.6% boost in sales compared to 2017 with a total sale of $420 billion. Stockholm International Peace Research Institute conducted a study to examine the growth of weapon sales, finding that sales increased by 47% in 2018 compared to 2002. The five largest U.S. defense companies including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon led the way with a combined sales total of over $148 billion. A released paper also states that with the U.S. viewing Russia and China as major challengers, the commitment to increase military capabilities will continue.
