The Army Inspector General Report has shown that the number of confirmed sexual misconduct accusations against senior Army officials rose in the 2019 fiscal year. Despite a decrease in allegations in the prior year, personal and sexual misconduct rose in 2019. Sexual misconduct has been the number one substantiated report since 2015, and it is characterized by ‘engaging in adulterous relationships, inappropriate relationships, and committing sexual harassment. Army spokesman Lt. Col. Emanuel Ortiz has commented that the Army takes all reports seriously and will hold those involved accountable.
