The first woman has successfully completed the SOAS training in September but was placed in her top choice rather than offered a Navy SEAL contract. If she had been selected, she would have advanced to the 24-week long Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, a course no female has yet to attempt. Lawrence, a spokesperson for Naval Special Warfare, declined to reveal the female candidates top career choice but commented that SEALs was not her top choice.
