When President Trump commented on NATO affairs and meetings, he reflected on the importance of each meeting, and that great strides have been made. While giving positive feedback, Trump did have one comment that has sparked further discussion, stating “except perhaps for one country.” This was in reference to France’s President Emmanuel Macron, who claimed that NATO was brain dead, leading to heated discussions. While it is clear that NATO can survive those types of comments, the concern falls with the alliances between individual countries. Trump stated that while Macron had a couple decent points, it was a crushing comment that will need to be discussed.
