Lisa Costa, the U.S. Special Operations Command’s Chief Information Officer and Director, says that changes involving advanced technology will soon enter the playing field in a disruptive way. This applies both to the Special Operations Command and the Defense Department. Network operations will be seeing more use of machine learning, with the intent of maximizing the work that can be done. SOCOM leaders need to recognize the essential aspects of introducing innovative technology and taking initiative to be on top of the changes. All personnel need to become more tech savvy than in the past, or they risk getting left behind in a dark age and being unsure how to handle forms of warfare involving the latest technology.
