Japanese island can become an unsinkable US aircraft carrier | CNN World

Must Read

An uninhabited island taking up three square miles could soon be used by the U.S. as a type of aircraft carrier. Japan has plans to purchase the island from a private company, where it will then pave runways for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. This could be used to simulate an aircraft landing onto a carrier, as well as act as an unsinkable ‘ship’ in case of a war in Asia. The island could also act as a base for Japan’s Self Defense Forces as they hope to increase their presence in the East China Sea.
