October was the deadliest month in 7 years for Marines killed in off duty vehicle accidents | Marine Corps Times

Must Read

The Naval Safety Center has announced that this past October was the deadliest month since September of 2012 for Marines in motor vehicle accidents. Eight deaths occurred within the month, a number reached previously only in 2012 and 2007. This brought the total to 27 Marine vehicle-related deaths this year. While the Marine Corps says they regularly hold trainings on safe driving practices and strive to implement efforts that prevent these accidents, there is no evidence as to why this October was an outlier. Car and motorcycle accidents were also the leading cause of death for Marines in 2018.
