Squats are incredibly easy to do incorrectly which can lead to injury. Carolyn Parker is a Gym Jones instructor and the founder of a gym in Colorado that expresses the importance of working out correctly. She notes that outdoor athletes usually don’t have a ‘gym base,’ and therefore struggle when they walk into a gym alone and hop on a machine or pick up a weight bar. Since squats require specific form, it takes many practice sessions to get it right, or else athletes risk the chance of injury. Parker recommends starting out with box and wall squats in order to help with form and technique.
