The biggest loss of life for the French military since the 1980s occurred in Mali when two helicopters crashed into each other. President Emmanuel Macron has expressed the country’s sadness over the loss of life and an investigation has been launched to find out what went wrong. France currently has 4,500 troops deployed to help defend Mali’s borders against the jihadists.
