Spc. Ben Ritchie, currently at Fort Jackson completing basic training, has become the first Army trainee to ace the newly designed fitness test. He is only the third military trainee to achieve a score of 600 on the test. The recently rolled out test now has six events, compared to the three in the past, including pushups, sit-ups, and a two-mile run. Ritchie’s platoon leader commented on how difficult acing the new test is, mentioning how proud he is of the trainee. New events in the fitness test include a deadlift, standing power throw, a sprint event, and leg tucks.
