Royal Navy Marines who seized Iran tanker prepare for combat on ship | Plymouth Herald

Day or night, the Royal Navy Marines from Plymouth-based 42 Commando are preparing for combat during ship-boarding missions. The Elite 42 Commando seized Iranian Tanker Grace 1 off the coast of Gibraltar during the summer. Since then, they are ensuring that they are ready for combat, even it is a fight on a tight ship in the middle of the night.  The Green Berets that are at the forefront of the boarding mission are the marines from Juliet Company. Major John Middleton, Officer Commanding of J Company says, “This latest training makes sure the marines are up to scratch, ready to carry out operations and maintain their expertise in combat in the often-cramped surroundings of ships or smaller crafts.” Testing elements included Glock pistols and C8 rifles, which have advantage in closed quarters combat.
