24 Mali soldiers were killed in a terrorist operation, with 29 others being injured. The attack left 17 Islamic State members dead and over 100 detained in Tabankort in the Gao region. More than 70 motorcycles had also been destroyed in the incursion. This new raid comes in the wake of a rise in violence and terrorist activity in the area. In October of 2017, four U.S. troops and five Nigerian troops were killed in an ambush in Tongo Tongo. Numerous attacks have contributed to dozens killed on each side in recent activities.
