US and Australian hostages held by Taliban for over 3 years released in prisoner swap | ABC News

American Kevin King and Australian Timothy Weeks have been released by the Taliban after being help prisoner for over three years. Both were professors at the University of Afghanistan in Kabul before being abducted near the campus in 2016 after the Taliban were upset upon hearing the news that Haqqani, son of Jalaluddin Haqqani, had been sentenced to death. After the release of King, three U.S. citizens remain hostages held by the Taliban overseas.
