Ryan Holiday says that embracing true ‘stillness’ is the key to exceptional work performance | Business Insider

Serving as the marketing director for American Apparel for five years, Ryan Holiday is also an author and speaker. His works include “Trust Me, I’m Lying,” “Ego Is the Enemy,” and his most recent, “Stillness Is Key.” Holiday recently told Dan Schawbel about his philosophies on life, technology, and how to disconnect from it in order to be a better parent and more present. A piece of advice he shares is to not touch your phone first thing in the morning. Go an hour without looking at it and don’t sleep with your phone next to you. Stillness is also an important concept to Holiday. “At the core of it, (stillness) is defined by presence. It’s defined by a lack of swirling negative emotions. It’s a sense of possibilities.”
