Federal prosecutors charged two former Twitter employees with spying on behalf of Saudi Arabia | Business Insider

Two previous Twitter employees have been charged by federal prosecutors for spying on accounts of those vital to Saudi Arabia. They are accused of snooping through more than 6,000 accounts starting in 2015. A spokesperson for Twitter declined to say what positions the employees had held, but says the company is grateful for the investigation. Twitter also said the company only allows a small, evaluated group of individuals to have access to confidential account information, and they are “committed to protecting those who use our service to advocate for equality, individual freedoms, and human rights.”
