Sentences Halved for Blackwater Security Guards Named in Iraq Shooting | RAVEN TRIBUNE

The three former Blackwater security guards convicted of manslaughter involving a shooting in Iraq have had their prison terms slashed by half or more. Each was originally sentenced to 30 years, which have now dropped to 12.5, 14, and 15 years. In 2007 the guards opened fire in Baghdad, killing 14 Iraqis and injuring 17 others. They claim to have been acting in self defense but Judge Royce Lambert said “there was just wild shooting that could never be condoned by any court” and that “they were firing wildly into cars.”
