The first female to go into the training pipeline to become a combat controller started the special warfare preparatory course on October 14th. A prior female planned to enter the course but was reclassified before starting. Another is seeking to become a pararescueman but has not yet started training. Lt. Jeremy Huggins states that “there is no specific timeline as to when we’ll see our first woman serving as a special warfare airman.” The courses required to enter these fields are extremely rigorous and push one’s limit physically, mentally, and psychologically, making it difficult for anyone interested in these paths.
