The popular TikTok video sharing app owned has been under scrutiny for possibly censoring politically sensitive subject matter and collecting data on U.S. citizens. Beijing ByteDance Technology Co, the owner of TikTok, is being investigated after acquiring the U.S. social media app Musical.ly. Senators Schumer and Cotton have raised concerns that China is expurgating content seen by U.S. users, as well as targeting political campaigns. TikTok claims that China has no jurisdiction over the app’s content and does not affect anything viewed in the app.
