Recent studies have explored the different ways that males and females react to the same illness. While women often take better care of themselves than men, studies are showing that men are often times more at risk for severe consequences when it comes to different ailments. For example, more than twice as many men die of melanoma compared to women. Research has recently revealed that the hormone estrogen, found in a much greater abundance in females, may have a shielding like quality against melanoma. The conclusion is that medicinal treatment should be unique for men and women, yet the medical field tries to keep everything as gender neutral as possible.
