Malaysian special forces units face live-fire training in an effort to improve their competence and preparedness during hostile operations including hostage rescue missions. While increasing the risk of injury or death, the military believes such training better reflects live situations and will produce highly competent and motivated units with improved performance. One death has been reported as a result of live-fire demonstration, however the government is confident that safety instructions and training are sufficient in protecting their special forces.
