Meetings are just the worst. They interrupt the day and disrupt valuable deep work, draining time, morale, and money. In 2017, an executive was interviewed who would quietly jab herself in the leg with a pencil as a distraction during painful staff gatherings.  Sue Phillips, a minister and co-founder of the Sacred Design Lab, described it best by saying, “I honestly think that most meetings are an all-out assault on the human soul. People are reduced to their functional value. Who they are literally does not matter in that space and time.”
