The founder of GoRuck, Jason McCarthy, was inspired to serve his country after 9/11 and trained to become a Green Beret and fight terrorists in Iraq. His wife, Emily, applied to the same agency that Jason was a part of and was sent overseas as a case officer. Jason began to produce GoRucks, his version of the ruck sack that special operators would take to carry their surplus equipment, and distributed them to a few fellow members. Upon returning home, he tried to turn his craft into a business after Emily pushed him to continue making the bags. The business ultimately took off when Jason started the GoRuck challenge which was a series of physical obstacles that brought teams together and endorsed his product. Jason emphasizes that Special Forces are community-focused and are diplomats before soldiers. He hopes that his product can add to the strength of the soldiers that are out fighting every day.
