Case of Pakistani who helped CIA track bin Laden adjourned | Star Tribune

A Pakistani court has given the prosecution two weeks to prepare a response to the appeal by convicted Pakistani physician Dr. Shakil Afridi, who was sentenced to 33 years in 2012 on charges of funding a domestic militant group and treating its members. Dr Afridi conducted a fake vaccination campaign in order to aid the CIA in finding Bin Laden. Washington is demanding he be released but Pakistan, who was furious over not knowing about the Navy SEALs operation,  has resisted because he broke the law. While he is not being convicted for involvement with the CIA, he is still having to face other charges despite helping take down one of the most dangerous members of al-Qaida.
