The Army has designs ready for the new Infantry Squad Vehicle with the ability to parachute out of a plane and drive cross-country with a heavy load. Three teams are competing to build the vehicle: the Oshkosh-Flyer team who has experience building for the Army, Polaris and SAIC who have defense experience and high-tech competency, and GM defense with no military experience but has a lot of vehicle knowledge. Each team has to give the Army two vehicles to test by November 13th, and the winner will receive a contract for 651 ISVs. None of the contenders are considered a “classic defense prime,” so it is hard to say which one will win the contract.
