Boeing’s withdrawal from the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program must not cause delays | Defense News

Boeing recently announced it would not compete for the Air Force’s $63B Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program, claiming the playing field was not level enough because other competitors have control of the production of essential components. The GBSD is a major defense effort that will replace the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile fleet. The major priority for the Air Force, GBSD has offered large contracts to Boeing and Northrop Grumman. Boeing’s complaints are suspicious, and seem to have more to do with the fact that its revenue fell 35% and it did not want to risk the money needed to prepare.
