Vietnam Air Force pilot Jim Beard kept an AK-47 gun for half a century propped against a wall in his home. The gun was used by the North Vietnamese Army and was presented to him by infantry leaders to thank him for his support from the skies. After keeping the memento for so long, he decided to donate it to Virginia Tech where he attended college. Beard is known for his bravery and character, and his donation added onto the list of great sacrifices he has made for his community.
