Tech time not to blame for teens’ mental health problems | Science Daily

Who’s up for a debate?  Contrary to popular belief, a study suggests that the time teenagers are spending online and on their phones is not bad.

Published in the journal Clinical Psychological Science, the study suggests that the time adolescents are spending on their phones and online does not worsen mental health.  The researchers found little evidence of longitudinal or daily linkages between digital technology use and adolescent mental health.

More than 2,000 youth were surveyed and nearly 400 intensively tracked on their smartphones multiple times a day for two weeks. Between 10 and 15 years old, they represented the economically and racially diverse population of youth attending North Carolina public schools.
