Laser helps special forces kill terrorists in a heartbeat | The Times

Special forces could use a laser beam to positively identify terrorists from their heartbeats before they are targeted by drone strikes, snipers or arrest squads.

The Pentagon has developed the device for the US military to identify suspects through cardiac signatures — which are unique to a person. Prototypes work at up to 200 metres (650ft) but the system’s creators say the final version will have a greater range.
