Speaking at a screening of his new film Hunter Killer, which came out last Friday, Zane Holtz reflects on playing his role as a Navy SEAL.
“I’ve always had respect and admiration for the military, so to get that opportunity to bring that to the screen was an obvious no-brainer to me,” he says.
Although the actor was born and spent most of his childhood in Vancouver, his family moved to Los Angeles, where he started pursuing acting and building up his resume playing mostly small parts on TV shows. Five years ago, he was cast to play Richie Gecko in Robert Rodriguez’s TV series adaptation of his film From Dusk Till Dawn. The series was shot in Austin, and Holtz now makes the capital city his home base.
Having lived in the United States now for about 20 years, he says he’s developed the utmost respect for the military, but that respect skyrocketed playing Navy SEAL Paul Martinelli in Donavan Marsh’s latest film.
