Chartered Engineer of the Year Award – shortlist and projects revealed | Engineers Ireland

Six finalists are in the running for the prestigious Chartered Engineer of the Year Award title at the forthcoming Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards 2018, held in association with ESB.

Sponsored by Arup, the Chartered Engineer of the Year Award is selected from the large number of engineers who achieve their chartered title in a given 12-month period.

Project: Engineering for the Irish Army Ranger Wing:  Engineering Solutions to increase the Operational Capability of Ireland’s Special Operations Forces Unit, the Army Ranger Wing 
The Army Ranger Wing (ARW) is Ireland’s Special Operations Forces (SOF) Unit and the country’s only dedicated Counter Terrorism Unit remaining on call 24/7 to respond to any incident requiring the unit’s specialised skillsets.  Capt Murphy has worked as the operations officer and dedicated engineer officer since 2015; assuming his role at a turbulent time as a wave of terror attacks took place throughout Europe and globally.
