The militant groups in Kashmir own sophisticated US-made sniper guns which may be used to attack Indian forces in Kashmir. The officials stated that these guns were used by the NATO forces against the Taliban in Afghanistan. Experts believe that if such weapons exist with Kashmiri Militants, then the only source could be Pakistan.
According to the security specialist, at least three to four sniper rifles are with militants. “For the first time, such gun was seen in the hands of slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sameer Tiger in a photograph uploaded on social networking sites.”
The security agencies along with the police, army and CRPF have managed to carry out a plan to classify these weapons used by militants. Rajendra Prasad, an assistant sub-inspector of Central Industrial Security Force who was guarding a power grid station was killed in a “stand-off” attack at Wagoora area near Nowgam, Srinagar. According to police sources, it was third such casualty in a “stand-off” attack by militants.
