U.S. Navy Capt. Jerry Rovner will be the guest speaker at the Star Fort Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America meeting Thursday at Inn on the Square. An officer in the Special Forces of the Navy, he was trained for unconventional warfare on land, sea and air.
Rovner was activated from reserve status and deployed after the 9/11 attacks to check the bridges around New York City for any underwater demolition. He will share his SEAL experiences, including securing the Panama Canal before turning it over to the government of Panama. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., with a social time, followed by a buffet dinner, a brief business meeting and Rovner’s presentation.
