101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION: BEST RANGER TRAINING | The Fort Campbell Courier

The 101st Airborne Division Best Ranger competitors spent the past three months submitting themselves to excruciating training.

Their training and preparation will be put to the test April 13-15 at the annual competition at Fort Benning, Georgia.

The competition, now in its 35th year, calls upon the best Ranger-qualified Soldiers in the Army to represent their units and home stations in a series of grueling tasks over a three-day period. The Rangers compete in two-man “buddy teams” and face physical, mental and endurance challenges to determine which unit has the best Rangers in the Army.

The Camp Hinsch pre-Ranger course instructors played a pivotal role in the preparation of the six Fort Campbell competitors. Since January, the competitors have completed long road marches with more than 70 pounds of weight, long-distance runs for time, stress-focused shooting ranges and other tasks they will face at Fort Benning.
