Paradigm SRP has used the background venue of this week’s Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to demonstrate the capabilities of its ‘Talon’ high precision stabilised sniper weapon system for unidentified members of the special operations community.
Over the last few years, SHOT Show has increasingly served as a gathering place for small arms experts from across international armed services and the day prior to the official show start often includes both public and private demonstrations of related small arms technologies.
According to John Lindsey, VP of operations for Paradigm SRP, the current Talon design is a compact man-portable (29kg) platform designed to stabilise sniper weapon systems, allowing precise engagements of point targets out to 650m and beyond for 7.62x 51mm weapons.
Originally developed with a vision toward tactical law enforcement applications, Lindsey said, ‘The immediate customer response came from the armed forces – the spec ops side of things…To get into the market we started to approach the law enforcement side but at the same time we had these SOF operators saying, “We need something like this now.”’
Choosing his words carefully, Lindsey pointed to an ‘international working group’ focused on sniper systems and technologies, adding, ‘We have done demonstrations for two of the countries in the working group and we are in the process of making sales to them. So the word gets out.’
