The Special Forces: In The Shadows opens at the National Army Museum in March and is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors.

It will tell the story of the elite regiment from its origins through to personal accounts of operational courage in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The museum, whose director is General Sir Richard Shirreff, himself a former SAS soldier, has spent the past two years planning the exhibition.

Equipment, medals and personal stories from the Falklands to Iraq and Afghanistan will be revealed for the first time.
