SOME of Ireland’s most elite military units swarmed the streets of Dublin today as part of a major exercise to gauge the country’s readiest in case of a terrorist attack.

Over 500 Defence Forces members, alongside members of An Garda Siochana, staged a series of mock counter-terrorism responses at key points across the capital.

Included in today’s training exercise were members of the elite Army Ranger Wing, as well as armoured military vehicles and the Air Corps – who provided air coverage over potential terror targets such as Dublin Airport and the Dublin Port.

Ahead of the event, members of the public were warned to expect to see military vehicles, helicopters and armed personnel carrying out operations across Dublin.
