Air Force looks to Physical Optics to finish developing miniature weather-monitoring sensors | Military&Aerospace

U.S. Air Force researchers needed miniature sensors to measure weather conditions covertly anywhere in the world for Special Forces and other low-profile military operations. They found their solution from Physical Optics Corp. in Torrance, Calif.

Officials of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, announce a potential $24.5 million contract to Physical Optics Wednesday for continued development of small hand-laced or air-droppable weather stations.
