Islamic State: Australia’s special forces to assist Iraq military in battle for Mosul | ABC News

Australian special forces soldiers will help Iraq’s military in the impending battle to retake the Islamic State stronghold of Mosul, in a battle the Defence Minister has warned will be lengthy and complex.

Defence Minister Marise Payne has confirmed the Special Operations Task Group (SOTG), which is comprised of around 80 personnel, will again assist coalition and Iraqi forces as they try to drive Islamic State fighters out of the northern city.
