Poland: Rioting Over Youth’s Death

Rioting in Poland set off by the death of a youth during a police raid has left eight people injured and 21 detained, the authorities said Tuesday. The young man, identified only as Rafal W., 19, because of Poland’s privacy law, apparently choked to death while trying to swallow a drug packet as narcotics officers tried to stop him. Protests this week in front of the police station in the town of Legionowo turned violent when some in the crowd started throwing stones and bottles, the police said.
