China launches military procurement website

China launched a website on 4 January dedicated to facilitating military procurement as part of the government’s continuing emphasis on promoting transparency and competition in defence acquisition procedures.

The website – – publishes for the first time official information about Chinese military procurement requirements, although programmes related to “national security” are not prohibited to be advertised, it states.

The portal is overseen by the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA’s) military acquisition arm, the General Armament Department (GAD), and provides information about China’s military requirements, procurement notices and tenders as well as related policies and rules.
