NATO needs to further simplify its networks to minimise the risk of cyber intrusion, while embedding cyber defence as a permanent feature of exercise and mission planning, according to the NATO’s top cyber security official.
The alliance will also be exploring ways to boost two-way information exchanges with industry, Jamie Shea, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, said on 23 September to a conference in Brussels on cyber intelligence.
“We now need to simply our cyber structures. We’ve layered on so many things [to legacy systems] that there are many attack levels across our networks. We need one system and one cloud structure instead of several,” said Shea.
