Cmdr. Alexa Jenkins, commander of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Carney, based out of Naval Station Mayport, Florida, was relieved on Thursday, according to a statement from the Navy. The Carney’s new commanding officer will be Capt. Aaron Anderson for a while. The Navy also revealed that Rear on the same day. Capt. Michael D. Nordeen, captain of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Mesa Verd, was replaced by Adm. Tom Williams, commander of Expeditionary Strike Group Two (ESG-2). In the interim, Capt. Gregory Baker, Chief of Staff of ESG-2, will serve as the commanding officer.
